Luis Rengifo Provides Update on Hamstring Injury
USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Angels utility man Luis Rengifo provided Halos fans with some positive news on Wednesday.

After suffering a hamstring injury that caused him to leave Tuesday's spring training game, Rengifo says he is feeling much better.

The 27-year-old told reporters including Jeff Fletcher of the OC Register.

Angels manager Ron Washington said Rengifo's injury shouldn't linger any longer.

“Hopefully it’ll only be a few days,” Ron Washington said.

The good news is that this shouldn't last too long. However, the bad news is that Rengifo also hurt the same hamstring on February 26. Nonetheless, the severity of the injury doesn't seem like as big a deal this time around, as Rengifo is already feeling better.

It's not clear whether he'll be ready to play in a game for the rest of spring training. His readiness for Opening Day is also up in the air. Washington and Rengifo seem positive, so that's a good sign.

The switch hitter's numbers this spring aren't impressive, with a .200 average and a .459 OPS in 30 at-bats. However, injuries haven't allowed him to fully get on track just yet.
