Golden State Warriors Rumors: Dubs Could Lose Promising Weapon to $30 Million Offer
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden State Warriors have arguably the most intriguing offseason outlook in the entire NBA. Many believe that the Dubs have finally and officially reached the end of their dynastic run in the league when they got stunned by the Sacramento Kings in the Play-in Tournament. The future of Stephen Curry on the team looks safe, but the same can’t be said about Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and even Jonathan Kuminga.

At least for Green, he has three more seasons in his current contract, while Kuminga, has his 2024-25 club option already picked up by the Warriors way back in October. As for Thompson, he is a pending free agent.

Could Jonathan Kuminga Leave the Golden State Warriors Once Eligible?

Kuminga is still under team control but he will be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2024-25 NBA season, assuming he won’t get or sign an extension with the Warriors. He has already said that he loves being with the Warriors, but there’s no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to the very fluid motion of what goes on behind the scenes in this league. There are already murmurs that there will be teams willing to offer Kuminga over $30 million, per Logan Murdock  of The Ringer.

The Warriors brass has valued Kuminga highly in recent years, but extension negotiations will be telling, as his public complaints about his playing time earlier this season suggest that he and the Warriors may not see eye to eye about his role. Some analysts believe Kuminga could fetch more than $30 million per year on the open market, a figure that would make him the second-highest-paid player on Golden State’s roster.

Kuminga’s future is one worth monitoring, especially if he sustains the great form he showed in his third year in the NBA. This season, the 21-year-old Kuminga averaged 16.1 points on 52.9 FG%, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
