The Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators made a trade on Thursday. As announced by Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen, the Blue Jackets have acquired right wing Mathieu Olivier (pronounced oh-LIHV-ee-ay) from the Preds in exchange for a 2022 fourth-round pick previously acquired from Toronto (122nd overall).

We have acquired Mathieu Olivier from Nashville in exchange for a 2022 fourth round pick. https://t.co/8mXedWrAXf
Olivier is not a regular NHL player at this point in his career. He scored one assist in 10 games for the Predators during the 2021-22 season, and three goals and four assists for seven points with 88 penalty minutes in 48 career games. He made his NHL debut in 2019-20.
The Blue Jackets have acquired some muscle and he will bring some extra grit and a physical presence to a young Blue Jackets lineup. He doesn’t have an issue dropping the gloves or engaging to spark his team. For the Predators, this was just a decision to move on and clear space while adding another mid-round selection to the books.
